This Louis XVI style mantelpiece was carved in Breche Violette marble in the 19th century. It features a straight molded lintel, the shape of which is repeated at the top of the jambs, in a circular shape. The mouldings on the lintel and the upper part of the jambs top a cornice, which rests on two sheathed and fluted half-columns with cabling. The richness of the marble is reflected in the simplicity of the ornamentation of the mantelpiece.
This fireplace comes with an antique cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
