This cast iron fireback was made in the 19th century.
It is adorned with a representation of Diana, goddess of the countryside, daughter of Jupiter and Lantona and sister of Apollon. The goddess framed by flowered scrolls, is dressed with a fabric, she bears her quiver on her shoulder and holds her bow in her hand.
This fireback is listed on Henri Carpentier's book "Les plaques de cheminées" at page 360.
