Rare Art Nouveau style cast iron fireplace insert realized around 1905 after drawings by architect Hector Guimard by Saint-Dizier Foundries, in Haute-Marne, France. Beautiful decor in relief of foliages and coils which are so characteristic of Art Nouveau style.
This cast iron fireplace insert is signed on the bottom of the left jamb : "H. Guimard".
We find this model in the catalog of the Saint-Dizier Foundries, "Fontes artistiques pour constructions, fumisterie, articles de jardin et sculptures", plate 61 (see photos).
