This antique Louis XVI style pair of gilt bronze andirons richly ornated was made in the 19th century. Fire pots, ornament characteristic of the classical architecture, enthroned on the andirons and are adorned on both sides with satyrs. Recognizable thanks to their horns, which also serves as handles, their long beards and angular features, the satyrs are creatures from Greek mythology and form the Dionysian procession. Garlands of bunches of grapes encircle the fire pots. On the central bar, large leaves, flowers and patterns of volutes intertwine.
Andirons of the same model are kept at the Chateau de Fontainebleau, in Marie-Antoinette's ""Boudoir d'Argent"".
