This unique Neo-Classic style pendulum has two superimposed turning dials. The larger one shows the hours in roman numerals, whilst the other indicates the minutes past the hour in Arabic numerals. Two snakes wrap around the lid and the base. The quality of the chiseling work is quite rare. The pendulum is in the shape of a vase and is said to be antique. This style of pendulum in the shape of a vase was around in Paris during the second half of the 18th century and was popular amongst enlightenment enthusiasts. We can see an identical model, signed by Le Paute, at the Louvre Museum in Paris (see photos).
