Set of six carved oak chairs designed by Eugène GRASSET (1845–1917) and executed by cabinetmaker FULGRAFF in Paris between 1880 and 1885. This model reflects the neo-Renaissance and historicist style promoted by GRASSET during the late 19th century, characterized by ornamental richness and sculptural detail.
The straight backs are decorated with geometric upholstery nails and topped with carved finials. The cross-stretchers form an “X” and rest on lion-paw feet. The seat rail is adorned with scrolling motifs carved in relief. The seats and backs are upholstered in the original ribbed fabric, secured with star-shaped decorative nails.
