This Louis XV-style red marble fireplace features a curved band and detailed center. The center of the band is adorned with a shell decorated with daisies and acanthus leaves. At its center is a large flower with fine petals. The shell motif, typical of the Louis XV style borrowing from the aquatic discourse of the Rococo, is detailed by the presence of numerous lines carved into the marble, accentuating the contrast between the central shape and the rest of the fireplace. On the rest of the band, moldings follow its curved shape.
The legs of the fireplace are carved on the console part of the leg and then curved. On the face of the console is an acanthus leaf mingled in a scroll. Two flowers and foliage emerge vertically from the scroll and run along the leg. Two scrolls are present on either side of the console part of the leg, reinforcing the curved character of the leg. As with the band, moldings run the length of the leg.
This fireplace comes with an antique cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace and with its original marble floor.
