This important pair of bronze candelabra is signed and dated "COLONEL / Fondeur à Lyon 1868".
The candelabra present a fluted shaft placed on a gadrooned base and decorated with flowers, surmounted by a capital with scrolls and acanthus leaves, inspired by the composite order. The lyre-shaped hearth supports a dome crowned by a succession of buildings.
Characteristic of the city of Lyon, candelabras with a dome with a similar decoration were notably installed on the Pont du Midi or in front of the tobacco factory in the 19th century.
We also find this model of candelabra illustrated in the catalog of the Durenne foundry around 1880 as well as candelabra in the same taste but without the crown of buildings installed in Paris at the end of the 19th century.
