Monumental Love Temple made out of stone in the 20th century after the design of the Chateau of the Black Prince in Lormont. The imperial stone roof is carved in imitation of the tortoiseshell slate. The canopy rests on four columns with grooved barrels with a lower part featuring water runoff patterns. Ionic capitals with flowers and stylized foliage crown these columns.
A domed frieze carved with foliage is surmounted by a denticulated cornice. Above, a frieze decorated with Greek waves completes the whole.
The Chateau of the Black Prince, also known as Chateau of the Archbishops, is located in Lormont, a city bordering Bordeaux. The Chateau owes its name to Edward of Woodstock, better known under the nickname of "Edward the Black Prince", who lived there in the middle of the fourteenth century.
After suffering greatly during the events of the French Revolution, the Chateau ofLormont was restored between 1876 and 1880 by the architect Alphonse Blaquière. The fountain in the park was built at that time. Our fountain canopy was realized, identically, on the model of the fountain of the Chateau of the Black Prince.
