This beautiful period piece Louis XVI trumeau is made of gilded and painted wood. Its rectangular frame is adorned with carved and gilded ornaments. An imposing molding with pearls encloses the mirror. The panel above presents symbols of victory : a crossed arrow and torch at the center of a wreath of bay leaves resting on splayed bay branches. On the left, Louis XVI is depicted in profile, in a very similar fashion to coins of the period.
