Antique floor composed of square terracotta tiles with the mark on the back. We can read « BOURGOGNE MONTCHANIN » around the monogram MT.
From 1857 to 1968, enjoying precious assets such as the massive présence of clay, the Centre canal, and the train and motorway network, Montchanin was one of the most important tile factory of France. Developped by Charles Avril (1817 - 1891), it became the Grande Tuilerie mécanique et perfectionnée de Bourgogne.
Each square tile is 8,46 inch and 0,79 inch thick. The whole surface area is about 11 m2
