In good condition. Beautiful patina of the time.
This antique cabochon floor comes from the chateau in Beauvais and dates back to the 18th century. It features alternating octagonal squares made out of limestone from Saint Maximin and cabochons of Noir Fin de Belgique marble. Under Louis XV and the Regence styles, the paving of cabochons is very popular, and is especially used in chateaux and town houses and is a sign of luxury and sophistication. The harmony that emerges from this paving is due to the fair value of proportion and balance in the use of octagonal squares and cabochons.
There are 100 square meters ( 1076 ft) available.
This thickness of the marble cabochons is from 1 cm to 5-6 cm (3/8 to 2'' 3/8).
- The thickness of the stone slabs is from 4 cm to 8 cm (1'' 1/2 to 3'').
