This wood double door is adorned with two large stained glass on each leaf. They are adorned with a naturalistic colored decoration on transparant cathedral glass, inspired by Japonism and in the Art Nouveau taste. We can see on the lower part yellow daffodil and pink peonies accompanied with bamboo rising toward a beautiful wisteria on the upper part, framed with purple and green strips adorned on each corner with red cabochons. This stained glass is signe "C Bertand Chalon S/S" for Claudius Bertrand.
Claudius Bertrand was a glass master and glass painter, who was the student, then workshop chief of Joseph Besnard between 1880 and 1923. J. Besnard was formed around 1848 and was first established in Tours, then Toulouse before opening a workshop in Chalon sur Saône in 1871.
