Beautiful painted and gilded 18th century carved wood doors from Italy in the Transition style. The decor is divided in four carved and gilded cartouches of shells and volutes each framing a hanging trophy. Above the trophies are pastoral composed of a basket, dove wings, garlands of flowers, sheaf of wheat and other foliage, gathered with a bow. Below, a canon and canon balls set on a console shelf, with a winged hat and divers branches, all hanging from a ribbon. The trophies were designed as pairs with a relative symmetry.
This decor is typical of the Transition style having both soft and sensual lines, rococo type shells and a certain rigidity in the carved frames, a symmetry of decor and ornaments that prefigure the Louis XVI style: trophies and ribbons.
