Fountain made of stone from Saint-Maximin, representing a conch blowing putto triton sitting on a stone. His wavy hair and pudgy features, the shape of his fish tail legs are typical of Louis XIV style fountain statuary. Carved in Saint-Maximin stone, a very fine grained beige with yellow limestone used since Antiquity for buildings. The most famous buildings in France built in this stone are : Notre Dame in Paris, the basilica in Saint Denis, the chateaux of Vincennes and Chantilly, Versailles, the Paris Opera house, etc…
