France, 19th century.

Very good condition.
Wrought iron Gloriette with “rocaille” style faux-bois branch décor.
Delightfully light this eight sided Gloriette of which one side is an entrance, is adorned with balustrades and arches that imitate branches.
The eight structure posts rise up and curve to unite at the top into a dome shape, which is called an “Imperial style roof”.
A gloriette (from the 12th century French for "little glory") is a building in a garden erected on a site that is elevated with respect to the surroundings. The structural execution and shape can vary greatly, often in the form of a pavilion more or less open on the sides. The Gloriette can also mean a large bird cage.
Full height under the roof of 152" 1/2.
The width between each post is 37".
