This Neo-Renaissance fireplace was made of sculpted wood painted in white in the late 19th century.
The straight lines fireplace shows a relatively sober decoration. Its entablature is adorned with an acanthus leaves scrolls frieze, and a ovum frieze that underlines the slab. An oak leaves torus comes also to frame the earthenware insert depicting a checked pattern with dragons.
The fireplace is surmounted with an important trumeau with more abundant decoration. The oval mirror is framed by a Renaissance architectural decoration composed of two pilaster with ionic capitals supporting an entablature with ovum frieze. The entablature is surmounted by a curved pediment on the center of which two putti are holding a garland flowers and framing a medallion. The whole is underlined with ovum and pearls friezes and lightened up with flowers garlands and acanthus leaves scrolls.
This fireplace is sold with its original enameled insert but without any marble floor.
