Ilhet Sarrancolin marble is from a town called Ilhet close to Sarrancolin in the French Pyrenees. A multicolour breche stone that is used for furniture, fireplace and decorations. The quarry was active in the Middle Ages, during the reign of Louis XIV and until the 1940’s. It was reopened in 1991 by the Po company. This marble is found in the Gallery of Mirrors and in the fireplace of the “Oeil de Boeuf” sitting room in the Versailles palace and in the 30 colossal columns at the Garnier Opera house in Paris.
