With its full and slightly rounded shape this surprisingly large mantel prefigures the future Regence style. Powerful console jambs rise up to a slightly recessed curved Bolection entablature with molded recessed spandrels that echo the deeply carved out panels on the jambs, which are underlined by a double row of molding. The mantel is accompanied by its original lattice work cast iron insert. This marble is known as “Old Marble” or "Vieux Rouge” in France.
The size of the hearth is 30 inches tall 31 inches wide.
