Elegant Louis XVI mantel from the 19th century in white veined Carrara marble with a straight lined design. The entablature is alive with a long recessed panel framed with pearls in which is nestled a ribboned frieze encased in molding. These motifs are very refined both technically and esthetically. The console jambs rise into a scroll that supports a slightly protuding square rosette. Double lines of molding run down the jambs on either side of a central chain of hearts. The ornaments and sequences of the carvings placed symmetrically gives majesty, lightness and stablility to this very Louis XVI style composition. The three paneled insert is adorned, in the center, with a wreath of roses flanked with laurel branches attached with a bow, and on the sides, with a rising foliage motif.
The sides have iron air vents.
