Louis XVI mantel with fine canted console jambs scrolled at the top and carved with deep grooves from top to bottom. The heads are adorned with square flower rosettes ; the filleted flutes running across the lintel echo the grooves of the jambs. The shelf follows the curves of the mantel. A beautiful classical composition in a soft multicolored Breche. The lavishly ornate cast iron insert is original.
