Imposing radiant Louis XIV style large fireplace mantel in incarnate Turquin marble with curved moulded shelf, elegantly simple panelled spandrels above slightly curved panelled jambs on block feet. Very nice cast iron insert and curtain, with marble hearth floor.
Incarnate Turquin marble is a French marble from the Aude region, east of Paris. Quarried since Antiquity the quarries are still active today. Used for the columns of the Carrousel arc in Paris and for many fireplace mantels in the Versailles palace.
