This superb antique Louis XVI style fireplace was made during the 19th century out of a type of Carrara marble : Arabescato marble.
The marble is carved with both simple and elaborate ornamentations. The fluted breakfront has foliated rudentures. Each sides of the entablature is framed by a frieze of pearls. The
jambs are decorated with fluted half-columns with foliated rudentures and topped with ionic capitals and endblocks with paterae. The shelf matches the columns' line.
The cast iron insert with gilt patina is embellished with olive branches and laurel wreath joined with a ribbon.
This fireplace is sold with its original brass insert but without any marble floor. This could be made to order
