This exceptional Empire period fireplace was made of Carrara marble, in the early nineteenth century.
The front is decorated with an Imperial Eagle in high relief, in a framing of two diamonds centered with flowers. Its wings and feathering are finely carved.
The capitals of each caryatids (see caryatid ) are decorated with two sculptures of St. Mark's Lion. They stand squatting, on an architrave.
Two busts of young women forming caryatids are carrying the entablature. Their hair is braided and knotted before them, on their bare breasts, stripped by an ample drape. The center of the pilaster is streamlined and molded. At the end, the feet of the two young ladies are standing on dices made of Black Belgium Marble.

This fireplace is sold without its original enameled insert but with its original marble floor.
