This Louis XV-style mantelpiece was carved in Carrara marble in the 19th century.
The lintel features a soft shell with a floral heart, from which foliage rise. On either side are delicately carved flowers in low to high relief, giving the ornament exceptional volume. The jambs are adorned with a floral corolla underlined by a small pendant at the top, and large molded scrolls ending in an acanthus leaf at the bottom. The whiteness of the marble enhances the quality and richness of the carved ornamentation.
This fireplace is sold with a modern cast iron insert adapted to this fireplace but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
