This antique cast iron fireback was made in the 18th century. From the Louis XIV period, its solar design refers to the King’s emblematic name. Below, a pedestal resting on eagle headed feet supports a shield with a fleur-de-lys coat of arms. The latter is topped with a royal crown and flanked on either side with a pair of laurel branches.
The edges are a little worn (see pictures). This fireback weight is 61 kg.
