This cast iron fireback was made in the 17th century.
The heraldic depict the coat of arms of the King of France Louis XI (1461-1483) and Louis XII (1498-1515). Three lilies flowers on a ecu topped by the Crown of France and framed by the Collar of the Order of Saint Michel.
An old illustration shows us two angels holding the collar of the order of St Michel.
This cast iron fireback is dated 1607 in the lower part. It might refer to Henri IV Edict which unified the Royaume of France (Henri IV was the predecessor of Louis XIII).
