This set of ethnic style monumental decorative elements in plaster was made during the 20th century.
Since the artists of the early twentieth century, who was searching for a new art, have enriched their collections with distant and exotic objects – for example surrealist artists - ethnic motifs have become a leitmotif in Western art of the last century.
This monumental set is decorated with faces, some are masked, and chests.
Two bullocks at the bottom of the set are supporting two columns molded in counter-relief whereas the faces are molded in relief : its seems to be four totems.
While on the two outside totems poles, there are two faces kissing each other, two children are molded on the other totems poles. These children are in the arms of a woman with sagging breasts.
This decorative set depicts birth.
