This remarkable pair of stone sculpture made at the end of the 19th century depicts a braided basket full of flowers and fruits.
In vogue under the reign of Louis XIV, those baskets sculpted in stone were used to adorn the walls of the orchards or the pillars of a path. We can find an example of this type of decoration on the wall's pillars built along the Rue du Maréchal Joffre in the King's vegetable garden in Versailles.
