This pair of wrought iron gates from the 18TH century bears the stamp of the Louis XIV style with its décor of balusters, its mixture of classical purity and shiny of gold. A frieze of arabesques runs along the top of the balusters. The symmetrical design recommended by Antique art codes, dictates the composition: the two twin gates are each comprise seven balusters, the waves of the frieze unfold in opposing directions and meet above the end baluster. Another gilded vertical frieze, a chain of interlocking trefoils, frames the far ends of the gates.
