This pedestal was made by Ferdinand Barbedienne, the ornamental bronzes were designed according to drawings by Louis Constant Sevin, one of the most famous ornamental designers of the Barbedienne house. He collaborated with the greatest manufacturers of his time such as Froment-Meurice or Denière and was regularly rewarded at Universal Exhibitions. The top shelf is made out of serpentine.
