This exceptional Napoleon III style table was made in the second half of the 19th century.
Fruit of a superb work of marquetry and wood veneer, remarkable by the important wood varieties used, this table is also adorned on its belt and foot with gilt bronze elements of high quality carving and gilding. It rests on four toupies feet which develops in the shape of tapered and fluted columns.
Its whole, but especially the slab, depicts an extraordinary marquetery decoration, also lightened up with lapis lazuli and malachite inlays. The center is adorned with a very beautiful real scene, extremely rare, on which we can see two tigers in a luxurious plants decor near a river. One of the tiger, sat under a tree, is watching its fellow while he's drinking.
Even though our table doesn't bear a stamp, it is the work of very important furniture maker, virtuoso of the marquetery work.
