The back of the dial is signed by 'Ed. Minart'.The enameled front of the dial is signed 'F. Barbedienne à Paris'. This beautiful antique Louis XVI style clock was made by Ferdinand Barbedienne, famous bronze artisan and Parisian editor of the second half of the 19th century. Around a fluted column supporting the dial of the clock, a woman dressed in draperies is being chassed by a winged cupid, in a playful way. The round base rests on two sea turtles and two shells portrayed as fountains. The dial is surrounded by garlands of flowers and fruit, torches and draperies. Superb quality of chiselling, matt-finish and brown colour can be seen on this clock.
