In Statuary Carrara marble, gilded bronze and brown patina bronze. This exceptional and monumental antique Neo-Renaissance style clock was made around 1880 out of Carrara Statuary marble, in gilded bronze and brown patinated bronze for the two characters. These characters, a man and a woman, were made according the superb marble sculptures by Michel-Ange which decorate the tomb of Laurent de Médicis at the San Lorenzo Basilica in Florence, Italy. The base of the clock supports a large enamelled cartouche dial whilst gilded bronze friezes are found on either side. The base rests on four bronze feet featuring chimeras. In the centre, a medallion bears the initials “CB”.
