Carved oak overmantel mirror with landscape drawing on paper, follows the Regency style, and was made during the 19th century. In an oval frame crowned by a shell and flanked by two curlicues of acanthus leaves. An unknown artist has drawn in pencil a large, very green landscape with a fortified castle on the cliff and a few peasants going about their daily chores. At the lower part of the overmantel, there is a mirror connected delicately to the oval frame by the curlicues of acanthus leaves. The “pre-Rococo” effects of the curlicues and shells is counterbalanced by a number of straight mouldings, making it typical of the Regency style.
