These three curved panels were made of wood in the 19th century. They are each adorned with a painted decoration depicting scenes of the daily Chinese life as it was the trend under the reign of Louis XV.
The Chinoiseries which are an European artistic model characterized by the representation of an imaginary China as it is described in Roman Ancient time of a " fair and peaceful population that is leaving happy days in a pleasures country", were spread in the arts and know a true rise in the midlle of the 18th century. The Rococo painter François Boucher was a spacialist of this kind of representations.
