Rare Napoleon III style paneled room in blackened wood (stained beech) with its fireplace in stucco in imitation of porphyry.
The fireplace, which is the centerpiece of this paneled room, is decorated on its tablet with a clock and acanthus leaves placed on both sides. The bronze low-relief on the center of the frieze is adorned with putti.
The fireplace is topped with a monumental hood whose two columns are supporting the pediment.
The polychromy and the blackened wood are typical of the Napoleon III style .
The bookcases embedded into the wood are surrounded by pilasters and topped with foliages in stucco.
The wealth of ornementation, the abundance of materials and the impressive decor are characteristic of the Second Empire style. Indeed, the decor is the strong point of this period, as we can see for example in the sumptuous Hôtel de la Païva, built by La Païva between 1856 and 1865 on Champs Élysées avenue.
Cornices are not included.
