Style Neo-Renaissance / Ref.0557
Neo-Renaissance double door.
Dimensions:
Width: 118'' ⅛ 300cm
Height: 170'' ⅛ 432cm
Origin:
19th century from the Chateau of Draveil near Paris.
Status:
Very good condition.
Monumental double door with green colored glass panes and two very differently decorated sides. Both decorations however are Neo-Renaissance .
The side with a lighter shade of wood presents a high pediment decorated with acanthus leave swirls and a plain central cartouche.
The main side is much more elaborately decorated, and is a warmer darker shade of wood. Very architectural in design: two columns support an entablature and a balustrade. These elements are profusely carved with Neo-Renaissance ornaments – putti, acanthus leaves, Antiquity style figures. The center of the entablature bears a coat of arms. The lower parts of the doors are wood panels adorned with pairs of griffons; above, finely sculpted posts rise before the glass panes.
The doors originally separated the main hall of the Chateau from the hallway leading upstairs.
