This beautiful pair of Louis XIV style antique garden vases in cast iron was made in the 19th century. They were based on the model of the marble vases by François Anguier made in around 1665 and adorning the northern parterre of the Chateau de Versailles (see photos).
Cast iron vases of this model are kept in the gardens of the Chateau de Saint-Cloud.
This classic model was also included in the Val d'Osne fouderies catalog.
