Originally a baptsimal font, this 8 sided rectangular top table is carved in one block of stone. At each of the four shorter sides, a lion supports the structure head down with its hind legs up, between two columns, and between these are coat of arms. The bowl is elaborately decorated with a frieze of alternating faces. The style is of Italian inspiration.
The top was filled and the base was shortened cut along a straight line as is clear to see in the pictures, in order to create a garden table. Very much in the spirit of the Chateau of Ecouen, the National Museum of the Renaissance north of Paris.
