Perfect condition.

Two body fireplace mantel, the mantel bellow, the overmantel above. The mantel jambs are decorated with heads of women, set in fluted sheaths. Flowing hair inlaid with pearls and a shell surround their face, veiled in delicate sculpted relief. On the scrolls, which are their breasts, hang strings of pearls and a medallion. Along the lintel run decorative friezes and the front is inlaid with red and green marble. The trumeau design is more architectural: two Corinthian columns support an entablature and a cornice. In the middle, a large space has been left open for an oval mirror, surrounded by a thick festoon of olive leaves. This composition is framed with dentils and in the four corners are bouquets of fruits and ribbons.

This fireplace is typical of Paul Mazaroz’s workshop: Neo-Renaissance with numerous decorative elements. Mazaroz also adds more naturalist details, such as the olive leaves at the base of the columns and the bunches of fruits at the corner of the mirror, both typical of Mazaroz’s style.
