This fireplace was made in the second half of the 19th century in walnut wood.
It is adorned with a rich sculpted decoration,in Henri II taste. Indeed, its jambs, framing a brass insert decorated with a torus, are composed of fluted columns, with capitals adorned with an ovum frieze, supporting a heavy entablature. The entablature shows a waves frieze framing a central medallion where is sculpted a salamander. A decoration of acanthus leaves scrolls underlined its shape, while olive branches are surmounting it. Finally, an important pediment with scrolls and adorned with ovum frieze comes to cover it.
This fireplace is sold with its original brass insert but without any marble floor. This one could be made to order (please ask for marble availability).
