This stone fireplace of Louis XVI style and period dates from the 18th century. This is a rare and charming example of a period stone fireplace.
In a rustic spirit, the entablature is decorated with a central panel representing work in the fields: the grape harvests are represented by vineyards and a basket filled with grapes, but also ears of wheat, and tools, rake, billhook, shovel. Egg and darts frieze panels surround this central motif. At each corner, the entablature is decorated with flowered vases.
The top of the jambs is elegantly decorated with acanthus leaves. The filleted fluted legs are set back.
This fireplace is sold without any fireplace insert nor marble floor but could be made to order.
