Good condition.
This mantel was made of yellow/green enameled ceramic in the early 20th century. It is most likely an austro-hungarian work of which the sinuous lines and the plants decoration are typical of the Art Nouveau style developped in Europe during the first decades of the 20th century.
It's jambs receive an acanthus leave decoration and support an entablature adorned with scrolls of stylized lilys. The slab receives a pediment with a central opening adorned with a feminine face as we often find on the Art Nouveau architecture. We also see a delicate and rich decoration of flowers all around.
The general shape of our mantel with two openings let us think that it was very likely made to welcome a stove.
