This antique Art Nouveau style fireplace was made around 1900. According to the natural Art Nouveau aesthetic, this large fireplace with rounded corners takes the shape of a tree. The jambs consist of two trunks supporting a frieze decorated with branches and sparrows in its center. While at the ends of the frieze are two small niches which evoke bird's nests, a niche of greater importance decorated with leaves, flowers and curves is on the center of the frieze. The patterns that adorn this fireplace, their relief, the multiple curves and the brilliance of the stoneware give the impression of a moving fireplace reinforcing its organic appearance.

A same fireplace model is known, bearing the stamp of earthenware Perrusson at Ecuisses in Saône-et-Loire.
First, refractory bricks manufacture in 1860, the factory produces tiles from 1863, under the leadership of Jean-Marie Perrusson. This is from 1890 that architectural ceramic appears in the production of the factory. The factory will then compose statues and decorative items. Thus, some fireplaces also come out of the workshops, alike this beautiful fireplace that we present here.
