Beautiful pair of Louis XV style andirons made out of bilt bronze and brown patina bronze, 19th century. It represents two children having coffee.
Andirons made after the model by Jacques Caffieri (1678-1755), son of Philippe Caffieri italian sculptor who came in Paris to work for the Cardinal Mazarin.
This model is is identified through the inventory made after Caffieri's death : "Item another fireplace garniture representing two children having coffee".
An other model of these andirons is illustrated in the book "Vergoldete Bronzen Vol. I", p.135.
