Beautiful pair of antique Louis XVI style andirons made out of gilded bronze in the 19th century. On barrels of twisted columns, two putti, wings of butterflies in the back, warm themselves near the fire vases which are placed in front of them. Superb original gilding and magnificent quality of realization.
It bears the stamp of Maison Bouhon Frères, a house renowned for its bronze fireplace accessories, in the second half of the 19th century, offering quality pieces, precise chiselling and rich details, just as it is the case here. In particular, it was rewarded for a pair of andirons at the World's fair of 1900 .
