This model was made from a plate kept at Sceaux Museum.

Historical : In December 1700, King Louis XIV decided to give his farewell to his little son the Duke of Anjou, recently king of Spain under the name Philip V. Our plate depicts the farewell between those two historical figures, which inspired the King of France the famous sentence "My son, there is no Pyrenees." He does not yet know that will ensue the thirteen years of the War of Spanish Succession. These battles will inspire him another famous sentence in his farewell to Louis XV "You must avoid war as much as you can. This is the ruin of the peoples. Do not follow the bad example that I gave you on that matter. "
