This antique armored fireback dates from the 18th century. It features the arms of Leopold I, Duke of Lorraine, as they appear on other firebacks listed in Henri Carpentier's reference book. The coat of arms is indeed crowned with a beautiful ducal crown and framed by two beautiful palms. Crosses of Lorraine appear at the four corners.
This coat of arms is that of the Dukes of Lorraine since Antoine de Lorraine (1489-1544), where the three alerons of Lorraine on the central escutcheon appear, and the arms of the four kingdoms and four duchies that are Hungary, Napoli, Jesuralem, Aragon, Anjou, Gelderland, Juliers and Bar.
