This beautiful fountain depicting a sea them, was cast in the 19th century by the Ducel foundry of which it bears the signature on the basin's base.
The Ducel foundry, created by Jean-Jacques Ducel (1801 – 1877), was specialized in the art cast representing originals from museums. Very appreciated in Paris during the 19th century, the foundry won many rewards during the World Fairs of 1851 and 1855. In 1878, the foundry is bought by its competitor the Val d'Osne foudnry which had then gather the catalogue of the Ducel foundry and add the mention « Val d'Osne successeur de ».
This catalogue allows us to notice that our fountain gathers two different models, meaning the orers could be ajustable according to the desire of the buyer.

Thus, our fountain is composed of a basin adorned with a frieze with motif of asparagus heads and another gadrooned one. On the middle of the basin, two children are dancing around reeds while an other one is sat on a dolphin and blow into a conch. They are surmounted by a second basin shaped as a shell on the center of which a Triton takes center stage holding between his hands a fish.
